HD-Vinyls 24/96 (Philips) Volume 8 – EDIZIONE VIVALDI by Philips on 49 LPs

front_small_boxset08
Box 08 with 6 LPs
This is a project I wanted to realize for my life and I started to buy the box-sets from all over the world. It took me around 3 years, because I wanted only Mint or NearMint box-sets. So 3 of them are Mint and never played, all the other are NM. The whole collection costed me almost 600 EUR…if you feel, you want to contribute to this Herakles-work, so you are welcome.

HD-Vinyl (Mono) 24/96 (Electrecord) Nicolae Herlea – Italian & Neapolitan Songs (Canzonette 1)

front-small-boxset
Many thanks to our friend ectudor for this beauty
You have very seldom the possibility to hear Italian and Neapolitan “canzoni” that are sung this good by a non Italian singer. Romanian super-baritone Nicolae Herlea has the voice and the maestry to do it in easy manner, not at least helped by the fact that the languages Romanian and Italian are a little related.

HD-Vinyl 24/192 (EMI) Ludwig van Beethoven – Triple Concerto (Karajan, Oistrakh, Richter, Rostropovich)

front-small-boxset
Ludwig van Beethoven’s Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Piano in C major, Op. 56, more commonly known as the Triple Concerto, was composed in 1803 and later published in 1804 under Breitkopf & Härtel. The choice of the three solo instruments effectively makes this a concerto for piano trio and the only concerto Beethoven ever wrote for more than one solo instrument. This album was recorded at Jesus-Christus-Kirche, Berlin, on 15-17 September 1969. The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted on this release by Herbert von Karajan and includes the impressive talents of David Oistrakh on violin, Mstislav Rostropovich on cello and Sviatoslav Richter on piano.

front-small-boxsetMany many thanks to our friend Ectudor for this rare recording
Super- baritone Nicolae Herlea (ahhh…his legato, OMG!) makes this pretty good production to a “MUST HAVE”. Herlea is (not after, but) with Sherrill Milnes and Tito Gobbi the best Rigoletto of the Milky Way. Highly recommended!

HD-Vinyl 24/192 (RCA Living Stereo) Johannes Brahms – Piano Concerto No. 1 (Rubinstein/Reiner)

front-small-boxset
Many thanks to our friend Jean-Luc for this beautiful reissue
The Brahms D minor Concerto is a difficult work to pull off successfully: the piano part is ungrateful, and often drowned out by an overorchestrated accompaniment. Also, many pianists–most notably Glenn Gould–tend to drag the tempos beyond all reason. Rubinstein, who was ten years old when Brahms died, would never have considered such a nonsensical approach. The Concerto was written early in Brahms career, and was the work of a passionate young man. In essence, Brahms without the beard. This is the first stereo recording, taped in 1954, to be made of this Concerto. (The stereo version, however, was not released until 1977).

HD-Vinyl 24/192 (DGG) Ludwig van Beethoven – Symphony No. 9 (Fricsay)

front-small-boxset
Many thanks to our friend Jean-Luc for this beautiful 1st pressing
There are so many good recordings of the ninth that we will all have our personal favourite. Someone will go for technical mastery, others for emotional control and resonance for self. My preference depends in part on my mood at the time. I keep coming back to the old recordings of the late 50’s. Klemperer with Hans Hotter in London in November 1957 and this recording from the same year with the Berliner Philharmoniker under Ferenc Fricsay. The latter is a DG recording and is technically superior to my ‘Testament’ effort from London. Both are wonderful but in different ways and the history of each production plays its part.

Hi folk…togheter with the old mac, also my RME interface has died. Brought it this morning to be repaired, in 3-4 weeks I should get it again. For these weeks I work with a Steinberg ADC…the RME is another leaugue, but this substitute sounds fine.
