  1. Zounds, Steve, what a gorgeous transfer. I took down the 24/192 and playing it on VLC Media Player, it is so rich, full and clear.
On top of that, Ashkenazy has long been one of my favorite Pianists. I just like the guy’s work at playing and conducting.
A thousand thanks, and kudos for your work.

  2. Outstanding! It is hard to believe this recording is half-century old. I wish many pop/rock/jazz records of the same age sounded as good as this one.

  3. I was practically weened on Kertesz’ Mozart with the LSO and Curzon from the same period. Listening to this Magic with a huge smile on my face.

    This rip a Perfect Storm.
    1. Excellent 1st pressing and great Engineering from Decca (thanks Jean-Luc !)
    2. Kertesz with the LS(O) in their prime and a young(ish) Ashkenazy 🙂
    3. Steve’s deft touch on the controls, which is very hands off, thanks to his awesome rig where every little bit adds to the magic…

This post deserves a Rosette in the Penguin Guide 😀
