Audiophile HD-Vinyl 24/192 (DGG) Georg Philipp Telemann – Chamber Concertos (Musica Antiqua Köln)

front-small-boxsetStunning, audiophile sound – why do DGG Archiv recordings sound 3 steps better than official DGG recordings?
Although the number of orchestras which specialize in early music has grown tremendously over the last quarter century, Reinhard Goebel and MAK continue to remain a notch above all the rest, as this Telemann record shows.

Although the number of orchestras which specialize in early music has grown tremendously over the last quarter century, Reinhard Goebel and MAK continue to remain a notch above all the rest, as this Telemann record shows. They are the most technically proficient ensemble in the world; they have a lush, wonderfully rich and full string sound which no other group is able to match; they continue to unearth previously unknown musical gems; and they remain the most innovative, exciting group around, with an uncanny ability to stir the listener like nobody else. This record is full of some wonderful pieces, and MAK makes them all come alive with excitement. Nobody has played Telemann better over the past 35 years than this group, and that remains true today

Almost raw rip – only silence between the tracks were “cleaned”

Ripping Infos

Monitoring

If You hear some clicks and pops here and there, Who cares? Id rather have a few light anomalies instead of destroying the music. Enjoy the music, not the ticks & pops. I tend more and more, in the last time, to de-click with an automatic setting between 1.0 and 1.2 so you can say, my rips are like half rough rips.

  • Software: iZotope RX 4 Advanced, Adobe Audition CS 5.5, Twisted Wave 1.9
  • Very light de-clicking with iZotope, significant clicks manually removing, no de-noising
  • DR-Analisys before converting to Flac
  • Converting Wave -> Flac: Twisted Wave 1.9
  • Artwork: Sony Alpha 350, Epson Perfection V750 Pro, Photoshop CS 5.5

LUXURIOUS performance of these chamber masterpieces! Hearing something like this, I start thinking that chamber baroque music is the best in the world ever created!
You always ask (in a manner of joke or rhetorical question, of course) why Archive’s recordings are much better than those of DGG. I think, that the difference may be explained that these are quite DIFFERENT labels (Archive is just Grammophon’s affiliate and no more). There are own sound egineers, equipment, rooms, etc. I suppose, that Archive’s sound personnel was much more immensed in music than those of other recording companies. Well, Harmonia Mundi’s sound is very close to that of Archiv, IMO. But it is sometimes too pure, though.

  6. Hi Filefactory says part 2 is missing.
