Classical heritage contains many masterpieces in the genre of piano trio. Among the most beautiful examples are the trios by Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Taneyev, Rheinberger, Faure, Shostakovich. The another terrific piano trio by Schubert should also be mentioned. But, to my taste, this piano trio in E flat D929 is the crown of this list. It is incomparable. Genial use of consonant melodies, of variations and repetitions combines the cycle into the united whole. And so much here speaks directly to heart and lifts the soul.
I should also add that here we have very good performance of this masterpiece.

Everytime i hear the second mov. i’m always thinking of a beautiful movie with “my” goddess Catherine Denevue and the fantastic Susan Sarandon, further with a small role by David Bowie. The movie’s title is “The Hunger”, a story of vampires in our days, the movie is about 30 years old.
