This is another audiophile gem with the dream-team Romero/Marriner/Academy.
Why aren’t all music catalogs made of this quality? Anyway. The renditions are musically very satisfying and the works are pretty well-known. You can’t go wrong on these interpretations. Very tastefully treated though. Just one of those discs that I intend to listen to over and over again.
Farewell, Maestro Marriner. R.I.P. 🙁

These are among the best compositions ever written for guitar. Angel and Pepe Romero have a unique and distinct style of portraying each and every note that Rodrigo composed. No other guitarist in the world has yet captured and portrayed Rodrigo’s music as beautifully as Los Romeros, especially Pepe Romero.
This is the 3rd great Guitar Concerto by blind Rodrigo.
Any devotee of Classical Guitar music, who is not aware of Giuliani’s work, is truly missing something!!! Giuliani sure must have studied Mozart. If you like Mozart (and who doesn’t), you will like Giuliani.
Rivaled only by Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Neville Marriner was one of the most important of the early figures who spearheaded the reawakening of modern interest in Baroque and early Classical music. In the 1950s, he founded Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, the first British early music ensemble to find a large international audience. Marriner has since become one of the most popular conductors in the world, acclaimed for his interpretations of composers from Bach to Britten.
His conducting is known for its vitality and brightness, as well as precise ensemble technique, a reflection of his violinist days. In a 1991 interview he said of his style: “I was never a potentate swinging a scepter, but was always in a dialogue with my musicians.”
