  1. Wow, what projection art has done for opera! That storm at sea opening is an ingenious thrill of realism to an already exciting Opera. And Gregory Kunde really surprised me.
His “Esultate” to open the show was astounding for a guy that started years ago in Handel Baroque, then Rossini roles.

I’m only 15 minutes into it, but this is a QUITE a production.

    Thank you Leonar!

    1. After watching a while, Kunde is no Del Monaco by any stretch; or not even a Domingo; no, not even a Pavarotti.

No offense, Kundi is precise musically, and some bit of heft in his middle voice.
It’s nice, but too lite for us who grew up with MDM.

      But still worth having.

      1. Bob, you wrote it…..everybody who had enough courage to sing and play the Moor of Venice is in every case compared with the allmighty MDM. MDM didn’t sing Otello….HE WAS OTELLO ! Even the fabulous Atlantov, Vickers and Domingo came not to the highest step, where is only one man standing: Super-Mario!
