This particular performance of the orchestral version of Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition…” is the finest performance of this work I have heard. It seems Dutoit and the MSO have collaborated again with the best Engineers on the planet for this recording. In typical Dutoit fashion, he cleverly combines precision, attitude and emotion, resulting in what I think is a genuine representation of this work.

Dutoit seems to understand and communicate Mussorgsky’s perspective on the human experience, which so many other performances seem to miss all too often. This will become obvious to you when you hear “The Great Gate of Kiev” at a rediculous level on your stereo, and are involuntarily moved to tears. It’s both accessible and meaningful music, and should come out of your speakers right now!

    • Welcome Bob…i heard and saw Mr. Dutoit and his Orchestra, performing Mussorgsky’s Pictures, near at the same time of this recording. This was and is one of the most amazing concerts for me in my life….every time i remember how excited the audience was, i get crazy…at the end, my mother in law, a quite old lady, stamped with her feet, togheter with other +2000 persons, begging for encores !

  1. I’ve listened to this four times over and I sit enthralled with its sonics. I do not discredit the original recording, but your enhancement is superb.
Just thought I would reinforce your reply to Yoyo!

    It’s G – R – R – R – E – A – A- – – – T!!!

    • Hi Bob, glad to make you this happy 😀 Indeed i improve/enhance just a little bit, not on every record…it is more the goodnes of the tube machines and of the pickup, that bring this marvellous result

  2. I downloaded all four RAR files, Password accepted but kept getting at least one error when unzipping. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Please assist me. Thank you.

    • Uh…don’t know, what is wrong on your side. Maybe you try to unrar all four togheter? You should doubleclick only part 1….the other parts will be unrared automatically. This is the way it works on mac. I think it works the same on win-pc.

The archives work well, they were downloaded in about 36 hours more than 70 times

    • Don’t try to DL with that damned Jloader…otherwise you would have read, that the file is momentary not available and that you can try later in time again. This is not the same as “file is dead”

  3. Alright, but even going through FileFactory directly, I get the following message:

    “Server Maintenance

The server hosting this file is temporarily unavailable due to system maintenance. Please try again shortly.

Please contact support if you require further assistance.”

I’ll try again tomorrow, but something tells me that I’ll probably get the same message.

At any rate, great job with all the Hi-Res rips!

    • Sorry…for maintenance issues of FF, there is nothing I can do. You only have to be patient…sometimes it takes 1-2 days, sometime more.
