HD-Vinyl 24/96 (Forlane) Erik Satie – Piano – France Clidat

Many thanks to our friend Trottar for this beauty
This is a varied and at times peaceful album, performed with exquisite taste. You probably know the Gymnopedies pieces found here. Try the samples, and you may well find you recognize them. Much of the rest of album is equally beautiful, though a few of the pieces, such as Je te veux, are on the light side, and others get rather strident. I suppose some of this was new age music created before there was new age music. The playing is nonetheless very sensitive and deeply soulful. Some of the melodies found here, particularly the Gymnopedies and Gnossienne, are deep and sad and full of emotion.
France Clidat (Nantes, 22 November 1932 – Paris, 17 May 2012) was a French pianist renowned for her interpretations of the works of Franz Liszt, a great many of which she recorded, and Erik Satie, whose complete piano works she recorded

  1. Additional remark to France Clidat: She was the first and I think the last pianist who recorded the complete Pianosolo Works of Liszt. The release was 1973 on Véga
(recording 1968-1973).The recording got the Grand Prix du Disques an several other awards-.When she asked Decca to release the recordings on CD, Véga had destroyd all the tapes. But France Clidat found all the copies after long own researches. 2010 Decca released The Liszt Piano works (using the copies) on 14 Cds. The distribution was only in France and England.
