HD-Vinyl 24/96 (Philips) Brahms/Schumann – The Complete String Quartets (Quartetto Italiano)

front-small-boxsetMany thanks to our friend Joediaprile for this gem
The quartet plays with simplicity, eloquence and with a lyrical tone that few can hope to match. Each of the movements is carefully crafted, and the playing is a window into the composer’s soul, as also the wonderful interplay between the members of the quartets. These are performances that combine eloquence and passion, and the sound quality is wonderful despite the intervening years. These performances are topnotch and set a standard that few even approach.

Ripping Info

Monitoring

If You hear some clicks and pops here and there, Who cares?
Id rather have a few light anomalies instead of destroying the music.
Enjoy the music, not the ticks & pops.
I tend more and more, in the last time, to de-click with an automatic setting between 0.7 and 1.2 so you can say, my rips are like half rough rips.

  • Software: iZotope RX 4 Advanced, Adobe Audition CS 5.5, Twisted Wave 1.9
  • Very light de-clicking with iZotope, significant clicks manually removing, no de-noising
  • DR-Analisys before converting to Flac
  • Converting Wave -> Flac: Twisted Wave 1.9
  • Artwork: Sony Alpha 350, Epson Perfection V750 Pro, Photoshop CS 5.5

  1. Greetings, dear Rach! Thanks very much for this gem! QI are well known for their elegant interpretations. I’ve always felt that orchestral music, including symphonies, concertos and operas, prevail over chamber opuses in your rips. Now this ‘gap’ seems to be perfectly filled! Time to appreciate…

    1. Indeed I’m not a great fan of any chamber music (big big sin I know 😉 ). Almost 99% of all chamber music efforts from me are records gave me from some generous users here…
But I’m realizing that I like chamber music the more I play/rip them 😀

  2. Thanks Rach 🙂 I look forward to listening to your rip, I see you’ve changed the cartridge. As you know I am a fan of the blackbird … but I trust your choices. I’m happy to be part of this great little community of music lovers 🙂
PS I’m sure my English will find imaginative understanding 🙂

    1. Believe me brother, the Zyx is a great one…is not instead of the BB, but additionally to the BB. The BB has now (felt) +1,000 hours and I must use it careful, until I have again 1.000 EUR for a new one. The Zyx Bloom is almost the same league (900 EUR) and is my reserve No. 1 (had a Benz Micro Silver, but not as good as the ZYX)

      1. I DO believe you brother. Besides … I just finished listening to Schumann, Op. 41 n. 2 … very good cartridge performance. Let’s say (having regard to the photo) zyx = bluebird 🙂

        1. …and theoretically it has to become better, after “burning” in some weeks. Has now around 20 hours, but with 60-80 hours the “rodaggio” is completed 😀
