The Fine Arts Quartet was founded in Chicago, USA in 1946 by Leonard Sorkin and George Sopkin. The Quartet, based at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee since 1963, has recorded and toured internationally for over half a century. Violinists Ralph Evans and Efim Boico (who have been playing together in the Quartet for nearly 30 years), violist Nicolò Eugelmi, and cellist Robert Cohen perform worldwide each season.
The New York Woodwind Quintet is an ensemble-in-residence at the Juilliard School in New York City, originally appointed in 1987.[1] At Juilliard, the members of the New York Woodwind Quintet present seminars each year for student woodwind ensembles, give regular coachings, and perform. The quintet’s members are flutist Carol Wincenc, oboist Stephen Taylor, clarinetist Charles Neidich, bassoonist Marc Goldberg, and French horn player William Purvis.

  1. Just listened to the first disc. An incredibly beautiful recording. The vinyl sounds almost impeccable, only a tiny amount of noise here & there. The woodwind instruments are especially well captured. A real pleasure to hear, thanks for your hard work on this rip.
