HD-Vinyls 24/96 (DGG) Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Piano Concertos 6, 22 (Géza Anda)

front-small-boxsetMany thanks for this to our friend Jean-Luc
Géza Anda’s interpretations of Mozart’s piano concertos are immortal classics that should not be overlooked. Granted, it is a crowded field, which include many excellent accounts (Perahia’s, for example). But these recordings – made in Salzburg – are fine examples of the rare moments in music making when a soloist and ensemble forms a coherent unit.

Anda and his Salzburger team know Mozart by heart, and they perform these works with an unmatched dedication and sophistication. Technical brilliance is not the ultimate goal here; it is rather the music itself, how to let it flow with a balanced passion. This keeps the element of spontaneity, so crucial in Mozart’s music, alive and sparkling.

Ripping Infos

If You hear some clicks and pops here and there, Who cares?
Id rather have a few light anomalies instead of destroying the music.
Enjoy the music, not the ticks & pops.
I tend more and more, in the last time, to de-click with an automatic setting between 0.7 and 1.2 so you can say, my rips are like half rough rips.

  • Software: iZotope RX 4 Advanced, Adobe Audition CS 5.5, Twisted Wave 1.9
  • Very light de-clicking with iZotope, significant clicks manually removing, no de-noising
  • DR-Analisys before converting to Flac
  • Converting Wave -> Flac: Twisted Wave 1.9
  • Artwork: Sony Alpha 350, Epson Perfection V750 Pro, Photoshop CS 5.5

  1. Thank you very much, Rach!
    These are Reference recordings!
More and more I become convinced that Geza Anda is my favorite pianist, who has no peers in Classical and Romantic repertoire (another great one is Maurizio Pollini).
When I hear Anda, and Pollini, playing it is clear for me that this is the way how the Classical music should be interpreted and should sound!
    Just perfect!!!

  2. Gracie! I subscribe to Karajanych’s view on Anda’s interpretations of the classical period. Anda’s style perfectly suites Mozart. It is pure pleasure to listen. Thanks to Jean-Luc for sharing this beautiful vinyl and to you for ripping!

  3. First there was Batman & Robin and now we have Rachman & Jean Luc, the super heroes of classical 🙂 thank you both for this beautiful gift.
Hearing Anda play is probably the closest we´ll be to hearing Mozart himself, I recall reading that Anda worked for five years to develop a specific “Mozart touch” and only then did he go on to record all the Mozart piano concertos…a virtuoso even as a teenager.

    • Thank you, mi amigo, for these nice words. Don’t forget, we have another hero here, Trottar, a great nice older guy, a piano maestro and surely virtuoso, that Trottar that I often mention, mostly on rips of piano music of great even if a little known viortuosi of the past. All these are his records.

    • Karajanych, add Whatever and The Night Owl and we have the Fantastic Five. or The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen
      Have a great weekend everybody.

      • Surely, dear Narayan. Without Whatever this project could not have ever been created! Mr. TheNightOwl is a great vinyl releaser also!
Thanks and long live to everyone who maintains, supports and uses this wonderful blog!!!
