HD-Vinyls 24/96 (Erato) Isaac Albeniz – Iberia, Vol. 1, 2 (De Larrocha)

front-small-boxset Many thanks to Jean-Luc for these magnificent pearls
Note: Some years later, the two volumes of “Iberia” were integrated in a cycle of four LPs, named Works For Piano (L’Oeuvre Pour Piano) with a different cover. Maybe you see them named that way. They are identical with these two.
These recordings are of truly top notch piano playing which undeniably surpasses either of Larrocha’s other two recordings of Iberia because of it’s supreame technical mastery, rhythmic vitality and corloristic wizardry and ease of these fiendishly difficult, yet beautiful works. Complaints about sound quality in this recording are irrelevant, especially since it is not that pronounced. Besides, one who listens to the great recordings of Cortot, Rachmaninov, Hoffman, etc. knows the value of the actual performance over the sound quality.

Ripping Info

If You hear some clicks and pops here and there, Who cares?
Id rather have a few light anomalies instead of destroying the music.
Enjoy the music, not the ticks & pops.
My rips are almost rough rips.

  • Software: iZotope RX 4 Advanced, Adobe Audition CS 5.5, Twisted Wave 1.9
  • Super light de-clicking with iZotope, significant clicks manually removing, no de-noising
  • DR-Analisys before converting to Flac
  • Converting Wave -> Flac: Twisted Wave 1.9
  • Artwork: Sony Alpha 350, Epson Perfection V750 Pro, Photoshop CS 5.5

  1. Thanks very much for this fine recording! I own a Hispavox CD of this recording, but this H-D rip is better sounding. I have about 15 recordings of Iberia and this one is in the top three. The other two great recordings are the recent Fernandez and the 1970s Block recording. The recent much praised Hamelin recording leaves me somewhat cold. Thanks again…
