These digital (!) recordings were made (extraordinarywise) by the audiophile super-label and specialist for High-Level Direct-to-disc recordings Miller & Kreisel from USA. They made a couple of excellent records, mostly direct-to-disc recordings and in strong limited quantity. The targer was: to be the best, to be the number one. Today the records are very scarse and very hard to find.

Once I had all six albums of this edition, but…the devil should take me away if I know, what happened to the other 3 albums.

Great music of great composers in super-great High-End Sound.

  1. Once again, I find your enthusiasm, even with the item per se, to be the most touchingly welcome feature of your offer.
    Keep up the good work!
    Thank you.

  2. Your attachment to classical music and sincerity and commitment to all classical music lovers are truly appreciable.

Thanks a lot for this release.

  3. Hi! After all thanks for all the material you upload to the site, its truly amazing.

I have a question, the distortion in Rimsky-Korsakov’s bass drum its from the original recording or was a problem of the digitalization? Because you can see the “square-wave-of-death” in the biggests drumhits if you open it in soundforge, and of course, its easy to hear.

Again, thanks for share and let us enjoy this fantastic music.
    Grettings from Argentina!

      • Hi Rach! I Said Rimsy, but i was mistaken, its in Berlioz’s Radeszky march, after minute 3:22, every drumhit its distorted. Here’s a pic taken from soundforge, the first drumkit. http://img64.xooimage.com/files/2/7/2/sin-t-tulo-2727020.jpg
I think its a error from the original recording, because the distortion its not at the file volume’s peak, its lower; and because i do not doubt of your recording/digitalization habilities 😀

        • Indeed, you can see the typical shape of cutted wave on top, on the highest level. This is typical digital with peak limiter. But i cannot hear any dramatic distorsion…maybe because i listen to on my equipement (high-end) and not on the computer. Try it; burn a CD a listen to with a good equipement (especially good speakers and amps). The bass on the big drum is very low and you can reproduce it only with good hifi

          • I didnt have any good equipment 🙁 My sony’s mdr7506 headphones are the best i have. Im going to get something in the future (I hope). Im young and I dont have money, plus here in Argentina is hard to find good equipment.

Thanks for the answer! And thanks for the excellent material you share!

  4. hello my friend! God, with all the wonderful music here, I am seriously at troubles with the space of my computer you go to kill my system 😀 have a wonderful time friend!

  5. These are good, Rachmaninov, very, very good! I’ve only listened to the Tchaikowsky, but WoW!

It is a shame about the missing two records. I’ll keep looking; Tower Records is really good about finding old ones.

Thanks for your fabulous efforts, and the valuable info you always include! This is all so much appreciated!

  6. Could you PM me detailing, what it’ll be, according to you, the minimum hardware and software standards you’d consider of an hypothetical rip of the three missing volumes to be deemed worthy of the existant volumes?

I don’t have the volumes, but if I were to look for a ripper somewhere on this Planet who had them, THEN…

¿what set of thorough instructions should I (you)
give him to make those new rips of a similar quality than yours?

I have several ideas to scout deep those albums.

But hey, thank you for this tremendous effort, Rachmaninov.
I shall give these beautiful rips their deserved full attention of my ears.

    • It would be great if you could find the 3 missing LPs. Indeed, I have vol. 4 but it is DBX-encoded. It sounds very bright and a lot noisy when played without a DBX-decoder. I oversaw this detail, when I got it on ebay 🙁

For a good rip (there is no secret) you need the best you can get. Very important is a good (external) sound card for ripping in 24bit & 96kHz. Cart is preferable as MC, phono-amp and the rest of the equipment as good as possible (I prefer tubes).

If it could be possible to have the rips in rough version (not processed) would be great.

      Thank you.

    • dear friend, please, consider from now on…..don’t report anymore unavailable parts due to servers maintenance. I cannot reupload blocked parts the whole day long, you understand? You have to be patient, one fine day all this will be “passeé”

  7. I am sorry Rach. I did not know… so just wait and parts some fine day will work??
I have 24 posts of yours with 1 or 2 files dead…so just wait?
I will wait as long as it takes, Your rips are great and HARD to find anywhere else .
A lot of ROCK rips around, some JAZZ too, but not CLASSIC.
So TY very much for your hard work.

    • The best you can do for you and me too, is to wait. Look, I’m anyway out for the next week (surg. op.)

Tell me again (the most important rips for you) next month.
      Thank you
