Henryk Szeryng (usually pronounced HEN-rik SHEH-ring) (22 September 1918 – 3 March 1988) was a violinist born in Poland and later a naturalized citizen of Mexico.

Henryk started piano and harmony training with his mother when he was 5, and at age 7 turned to the violin, receiving instruction from Maurice Frenkel. After studies with Carl Flesch in Berlin (1929–32), he went to Paris to continue his training with Jacques Thibaud at the Conservatory, graduating with a premier prix in 1937.

  1. Thank You very much for this release; my father asks something about this 3 concertos (he has two of them but third is not sure): director for each of 3 concertos (since they are 2, one should be for 2 of them?) and if possible year of recording – because I cannot see much more on the covers… please look if You can…

    • Hi….Tchaikovsky’s and Khatchaturian’s concerti are both with London Symphony Orchestra, conduted by Antal Dorati. Prokofieff’s concerto with same Orchestra, conduted by Gennadi Roshdestwensky

    • Hi…found this on web:

Concerto for Violin in D minor by Aram Khachaturian
      Performer: Henryk Szeryng (Violin)
      Conductor: Antal Doráti
      Orchestra/Ensemble: London Symphony Orchestra
      Period: 20th Century
      Written: 1940; USSR
      Date of Recording: 07/1964
      Venue: Watford Town Hall, England

but nothing about the other two concerti

  2. Ok, many thanks; we don’t have Chajkovsky with Dorati, as expected (we have other version)! There is a japanese database of Szeryng records and here this missing recording is also notified – year 1962 – You can look at
really many thanks (we always look for “new” Szeryng releases, but it is not simple since we have many of them…)

  3. Thank you for re-uploading this one.

I started playing the Tchaikovsky first because it is familiar to me.
What satisfaction with the sound you produce by your equipment. This music and the sound just grip me in the inner being! Mmmmmm! Grazie!

  4. Guys, really…

YES, the Prokofiev and Katchaturian tags files are INTERPOLATED.. So what? Big deal…

    1) Open a notepad and copy the names of all the 6 “affected files” (x3 Prokofiev and x3 Katchaturian)

    2) Paste the names of the files to the corresponding tracks (make sure tracks are in different folders, to avoid duplicate names incompatibility)…

Really, guys, the people that are posting all these wonderful music have already too much to do, and it takes us less than 3 minutes to “correct” the names of the files once we download them, don’t you think? 🙂

Best regards to everyone, and thanks again, Rach, for all your hard work!!!!

    Mario 😀

    • Of course Mario, you’re right. I was not saying that for myself. It takes indeed 3 mn to correct. I just thought Rach’ would like to know and maybe some other folks who don’t know too much this music and who would not have been able to notice it by themselves. 😉

  5. Dear Onkle,

I think Rach already knows, as someone already mentioned this “issue” in an exchange of posts (between 13 January 2011 at 05:18, and 13 January 2011 at 13:17) (see above…)

    Cheers! 😀

  6. Dear Onkle,

I can very well imagine that there are a great many priorities when someone uploads files at such a fast pace.

    Literally, these guys almost don’t stop… 🙂

As for myself, my priority is to be ever so thankful for the great amount of wonderful music they provide us with on a constant basis 😀

    Best regards!!!

    Mario 😀

  7. I only listened to Prokofiev : it’s fantastic ! I mean Szeryng’s playing folded by orchestra is magnified by incredible sound. No need to compare with CD if ever it exists to know that this rip is far superior. Being used to listen to CDs I know none can sound like this, so natural, so strong and fluent both ! I am new here and I seem to have entered a cavern full of treasures ! I congratulate you Rachmaninov to make such splendid works.

  8. Hi Alf,

I’ve written File Factory 3 times in a week about the #2 link repeatedly saying its being repaired, BUT IT’S NOT.

Do you have any clout with these guys?

    • Bob, it seems to work again now. I don’t know, what the matter was. But we know, that from time to time FF went drunk 😀

      • Hi Alf,
It has been nearly a month since I wrote about link 2 of the recording not working and File factory has not fixed it. Here’s what I got just a couple minutes ago:

        Server Maintenance

Is there any way you can re-upload either link 2 or all the links of it?
