Rare HD-Vinyls 24/96 (DGG) Frederik Chopin – Piano Concertos 1 & 2 (Vasary)

Vasary`s 1964/5 performances of the Chopin piano concertos are extremely enjoyable pieces of music making. I rank them right up there with the top of the field, and the field of these concertos is quite packed indeed.
For the concerto in E minor, I prefer Vasary`s straight-forward approach: consistent tempi and a fine display of delicacy in the slower, second movement. He rarely demonstrates flashy feats of look-at-me “personal artistry” which pervades other performances, such as with Zimerman and the Polish Fest. Orch. on DG.

  1. Listening to this guy is like drinking in the beauty of the Fabrge Eggs.
You were right about this one, Rach.
Chopin is treated like the King of Piano he is!

  2. Thanks, Rach. Notwithstanding my reluctance to behave like a “customer” , I join tovarnik and zilch’s remarks, while being ignorant of where the solution could lie.

  3. Rach,
    Sorry to use this personally,
but I’m having serious computer problems with my desktop which is where my e-mails are kept.
I’m on my notebook now and it is too small to deal with DLs.
My absence is not due to any unhappiness with you guys.
You’ve got the best site i the world in my books.

  4. Disfruté de una edición en vinilo en serie económica del Segundo Concierto cuando era más joven; uno de mis primeros discos. Gracias por permitirme disfrutar de él de nuevo. – Alejandro
