Having received Grammy awards many times for his Bartok recordings, George Solti is recognized as one of the composers foremost interpreters. The London Symphony sounds as mighty and intensely responsive as ever; and Decca’s sonics are simply spectacular with remarkable clarity and depth. This is Bartok for the ages.

Sir Georg Solti is, as many already know, one of the great interpreters of Bartok. His way with Bartok is menacing, brutal, and hard-knocking. This isn’t to say that he underplays the slower, more introspective sections of the music, because he doesn’t, but when it comes time to tear down the house, he’s not afraid to do so. Through the years, Bartok has had many great interpreters such as Boulez, Bernstein, Fischer, and Rattle, but there’s something so passionate in Solti’s readings that I can easily overlook whatever flaws the performances may have.

  1. WooHoo !

    Thanks, my Alf.

Ps : Actually, this is a second pressing, not a first pressing. Anyway, in that case, the sound of second pressing is virtually indistinguishable from the first one.

I write back to you soon.

  2. Thank You. I have maybe funny questions. Sometimes You write in headlines “HD-Vinyl”, sometimes (like in this case) “Super HD-Vinyl”. Does that “HD” linked to pressing technology used to produce the vinyl, or some recording procedure, or to Your ripping procedure? And the same for the “Super”, is it Your expression of emotions regarding the recording, or some technology used either for the recording, or vinyl pressing? 🙂

    • Good evening Prague (one of the most beautiful cities in the world)
it’s the last you wrote…sometime I try to express what the record is meaning to me personally, togheter with the fact if it is especially good produced or rare or audiophile

  3. Thank You for the answer. So no some equivalent of the SACD in technological point of view, but “only” marketing .-) Gives some information on You as well 🙂 Indeed, Praha has genius loci. If You will have some way to Praha, just let me know and we can make some shoping of vinyls + tour.

    • I was in Praha in the 1st week of june, during the days of high waters. It was surely not the last time, I fell in love with Praha 😉

  4. Same with me, parts 4 & 5 do not work, I guess a temporary problem with FileFactory. Maybe tomorrow it is fixed.

    Thank you very much anyway!!!

  5. FileFactory says for part 4 “Sorry, due to an unexpected error the file you are requesting is no longer available. If you are the owner of the file then please upload it again. We apologise for any inconvenience. ”

    Thank you.

  6. Nobody noticed there’s – TWO part 4???

Found many broken links since FF started reconstruction.

RACH: you suggest we wait until the service is back up full time?

      • Will do Rach.

Oh dear… so many amazing recordings you’ve done lately and i can’t complete any of them. But what can you do but stay the coarse.

        Ciao from LA, CA

    • Yes I noticed the two part 4’s. The FileFactory download worked perfect for me. Download the second part 4 with the most recent date August 12, 2013.

Rachmaninov, thanks for this very exciting music with excellent sound that likely are the definitive performances. Sir Georg Solti was born in Budapest and he studied there with Béla Bartók, so being Hungarian the music of his fellow countryman was likely in his blood.

      • Hi babe…what Tim wrote is more than 1 year ago 😉
BTW, the curious “thing” is that you see part4 twice when you DL, but in my DL-manager, when I take a look in that folder, there is only the newer uploaded part4 there. Funny FF…
