The Power And The Glory were recordings (direct-to-disc) made in 1978 by the audiophile super-label Miller & Kreisel from USA. They made a couple of excellent records, mostly direct-to-disc and in strong limited quantity. The target was: to be the best, to be the Number One.

Today the records are very scarse and very hard to find.
The recordings have a great purity and a very deep bass that can reach 20 Hertz, so PLEASE, take care of your HiFi-equipement, expecially of your louspeakers.
The organ of the 1st Congregational Church in Los Angeles is, with its 11.848 pipes, 32 foot fundamental pipes and high pressure trumpets, one of the world’s greatest organs.

  1. Thanks a lot! What a great job you did of the record capture. Would it be possible to get a copy of the original digital files before you removed the clicks/pops? For my own use only and I would be happy to pay.

    Regards, Rob

    • As you can imagine, i don’t have the original waves anymore. To make them again, it costs me a lot of time to upload them

      • OK, thanks, I understand. Just one question, did you apply any EQ to the file, or is it as per the original capture?

        Regards, Rob

        • no, not in this case. I apply EQ (lightly) only when i hear, while recording, that the sound isn’t as good as it should be, normally some older recordings, but in this case the sound is fantastic.

  2. Hello all! I’ve been away, so sorry for not leaving any words of thanks in the comments. I’m back now, and have mountains of wonderful new posts to catch up on! I hope all’s well with our three wonderful hosts here at Boxset.

This was really just a quick note to say thanks in advance for allllllll the stuff you’ve posted in the last couple of months that I’m going through now

    Viva boxset!

  3. Rach, a question, you say these are completely new rips, is it worth re-downloading them? I have both already (and love them both dearly – they’re among my most played). so what’s new? new equipment? new techniques?

hope all’s well with you. I’m looking forward to listening to your latest uploads….just as soon as my connection stops cutting out and I can finally finish downloading

oh, and what happened to detemps? is he not going to be posting any more 🙁 ?

    • Hi Otello 😀 The reason why i made new rips is that i realised some little (very little) anomalies (very light distorted peaks, here and there)…you know, things that are only a “problem” for such freaks like i am 😀
If you want, keep the old rip, that’s for 99,99999% identical with this one. The new one is now flac, not wave anymore.

      • thanks mister rainbow treble clef. I’ll stick with the rips I’ve already got then, though I’ve already re-downloaded (the spectacular) Norma. All your rips sound sublime to my ears.

So maestro….when do we get to hear the Baltsa/Carreras Carmen???

        • Hi K.
You’re right with the Carmen…my fault: recorded 4 sides 2 months ago and never completed… 🙁
This is a promise: until end of this week, this Carmen will be online 😉

  4. This is very cool, on the official M&K website I was looking at a timeline they have posted for their history and a picture of this LP is listed along with four other non-classical records for 1978.
