HD-Vinyl Stereo 24/96 (DGG) Eduard Lalo – Symphonie Espagnole (Perlman/Barenboim)

front-small-boxset
As great as other violinists on some outstanding “Symphonie Espagnole” recordings are, Perlman really goes to the front of the line in my opinion. His beautiful intonation, amazing technique, and feel for this music (not at all self-indulgent) are just about as perfect as one can hope to get. The acoustics and sound of this recording are just as glorious as is the playing. Highly recommended.

Fabulous music, fabulous recording, fabulous performance. The Kontarsky brothers were strong technicians, intuitive partners, and had a great feel for Impressionistic music. The recorded sound is also superb.

Super HD-Vinyl 24/192 (DGG) Saint-Saens/Lalo/Bruch – Cello Concertos (Fournier)

front-small-boxsetPierre Fournier is an incredible cellist and these performances of the concertos by Saint-Saens and Lalo are magical. Another added bonus to this recording is the inclusion of Bruch’s “Kol Nidrei for Cello and Orchestra”.
Lalo’s concerto is not among my favorite ones, but Fournier is the only cellist who motivates me to listen it. That’s why I recommend you. Because somehow, this Op. seems to have been composed for this memorable artist.

HD-Vinyl 24/192 (DGG) Antonin Dvorak – Symphony No. 5 (9) From The New World (Fricsay)

front-small-boxset
Merry Christmas everybody !!!!
Many thanks to our friend Jean-Luc

It is very difficult to maintain the serene objectivity and required tact when we are talking about Ferenc Fricsay. Specially when we have to mention one of the most reminded and well known Symphonic works that for so many years has engaged and captivated the great audiences all over the whole world. What Fricsay achieved with the hundred musicians of the Berlin was simply incredible. The performance is filled of undeniable vitality, sweeping energy, stylized phrasing and mercurial passion. Such evidence of fervor and emotive conviction to be true, I have never listened in any other recording recorded previously and pitifully recently.

HD-Vinyl 24/96 (DGG) Giuseppe Verdi – Rigoletto (Scotto/Bergonzi/Fischer-Dieskau)

front-small-boxset
Many thanks for this beauty to our friend Jean-Luc
I guess some people hear what they want to hear. Say “Fischer-Dieskau as Rigoletto” and the initial reaction might be “huh?” But – oh man –  listen to what the man does. Verdi wrote for high baritone, and Fischer-Dieskau’s tenorish quality fits the music perfectly. His tender moments, and there are quite a few in this opera, are meltingly sweet and heart breaking. And don’t tell me he doesn’t have enough power and bite for “Cortigiani, Vil Razza Dannata”!
