Audiophile HD-Vinyl 24/192 (Klavier/EMI) Jules Massenet – Le Cid Ballet (Fremaux)

front-small-boxset
Not the 2011-rip. Revisited (2016) with the Black Bird Gang and the SP15
In the 90s Klavier Records from USA reissued many wonderful recordings from the 60s and 70s that were formerly published by EMI. The records came in strong limited edition on 180 gramm vinyl. This stunning sounding recording let you easily imagine, why EMI records from that era are desperately searched and wanted by collectors worldwide.
Fun-factor & Audiophile-factor: both very high!

Super HD-Vinyl 192/24 (Telarc) Carl Orff – Carmina Burana

front-small-boxset
Revisited with the Black Bird Gang – rip from Apr. 2016
In my opinion, the best sounding “Carmina” and one of the best interpretations. A great feast for your ears and your equipement.
Although this is (probably) a 16bit/44.1kHz digital production, the vinyl sounds worlds better that the CD…trust in me (cit.)

Super HD-Vinyl 192/24 (Telarc) Camille Saint-Saens – (Organ)Symphony No. 3 (Ormandy/Murray)

front-small-boxset
Revisited – complete new rip (2016) in 24/192 with the Black Bird Gang.
Pay Attention on track four: Sub Bass – take care of your equipement (Amp & Speakers)

Enjoy the beauty, the purity and the sheer “Grandezza” of a perfect recording. Without any doubt, this is sonically and performancing a masterpiece. Made in 1980, the sound (from an unusual venue for the Philadelphia Orchestra, the St. Francis de Sales Church) remains “State Of The Art” 36 years later. It is, arguably, one of the very best recordings of the Philadelphia Orchestra ever made, irrespective of repertoire.

High-End HD-Vinyl 24/192 (EMI) Carl Orff – Carmina Burana (Previn)

front-small-boxset
Revisited with the whole Black Bird gang…new rip in 192k from March 2016
Being somewhat of a fanatic about Carmina Burana, I have had occasion to listen to several recordings of these songs…and I own around 10 different versions on vinyl and CDs.
This recording is, without a doubt, the best one there. From the opening of ‘O Fortuna’, where the silence speaks as eloquently as the crash of the music, through the solos of the sorpranos at the end, which makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up, it is so clear and pure, the performance is superb.

Conductor: André Previn

HD-Vinyls 96/24 (Teldec) Georg Friedrich Händel – 6 Concerti Grossi & Water Music (Harnoncourt)

front_small_boxset
Reposted, now with FF links
One can so easily forget that one is listening to music when this recording is playing, because the emotional heart of it so transparently shines through. There is no separation of the recording into its technical and other qualities. It stands whole and pure. That said, if one really wants to, one may bend an ear to the sound quality itself, and be just as entranced. There is a warmth and a harmonious sheen, if you will, that simply brings joy.

HD-Vinyls 24/96 (Philips) Franz Schubert – Piano Sonatas 537, 664 (Alfred Brendel)

front-small-boxsetMany many thanks to Jean-Luc for these masterworks
Grand sensitive performances by one of the worlds greatest pianists. Simply a treasure. Schubert is clearly in Brendel’s blood. Excellent interpretation of Shubert’s piano repertoire. Amazing technique coupled with clarity and feeling. A must buy for all piano music fans. This is the standard performance for Schubert’s piano music.
All others will be compared with this well balanced interpretation.
A romantic and dynamic performance without exagerations.

HD-Vinyls 24/192 (MFSL) Debussy/ Ravel – La Mer/Prélude À L’après-midi D’un Faune/Boléro (Karajan)

front-small-boxset
Many thanks to my friend Mats for this audiophile gift
What makes Karajan such a superb French conductor isn’t just precision and clarity, two virtues we associate with this genre, but his poetic imaginaiton. Where Boulez is crystalline and sparkling in La Mer, Karajan is romantic and delicate. He expresses the music in long sweeps of feeling, but each bar is full of color and nuance. As familiar as La Mer is, to go beyond mere scene-painting (wind, waves, foam, etc.) is difficult. To my ears, Karajan’s interpretation rises to the very top, but you must be able to open your ears to it, since this isn’t Munch-Ansermet-Boulez.

HD-Vinyls 24/192 (Decca) Giacomo Puccini – Turandot (Sutherland/Pavarotti)

front-small-boxset
This is not the rip from 2010 and not from 2012 but a complete new rip (Oct. 2015) in 24/192
This is the best „Turandot“ you can find in this world, my friends. Maestro Mehta and the fabulous dream-team Sutherland/Pavarotti are not of this galaxy. Add the great and wonderful voice of Ghiaurov and an angelic Caballè, perfect choir, a speedy drive, perfect tempi and intonations….i could continue ’til Xmas……not at last the stunning audiophile sound.
You‘ll never find a better „Turandot“ – Sutherland was ideal for roles like the cruel chinese princess and Pavarotti was born only for the role of Calaf. Finally, Maestro Mehta was born only to create this “work of the century”.

HD-Vinyls 24/96 (Turnabout) Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Complete Music For Two Pianos (Brendel/Klien)

front-small-boxset
Many thanks to our friend Trottar and Jean-Luc for this gem
The Concerto
K 448 receives a stupendous performance at the hands of the young Alfred Brendel and Walter Klien (an old campaigner). What a delight this is. The soloists are utterly synchronous with one another to the point where their tone is near-identical: I cannot tell who is who. Their high spirits and éclat are unsurpassable. They also join forces for the Double Piano Concerto, K 365, which Mozart wrote for his sister Nannerl. Again, this is a triumph of exuberance – and the orchestral forces, conducted by Paul Angerer, impart grace to proceedings.
