HD-Vinyl 24/96 (Decca) The Voice Of Mario Del Monaco (Vol. 1, 2, 3, 4)

front-small-boxset
You surely have seen in your life such a situation: when a very important person died, the program on TV was changed or there were some extraordinary documentaries about.

When Mario Del Monaco died in 1982, the world should have stand still for a moment, but nothing happened: no extra docus about him on TV, no changed programs….what a shame. These were the words of my beloved uncle, the greatest fan of Super-Mario, who made of me also a great operatic lover and fan of Del Monaco. So many records of Del Monaco I’ve posted (and still I will post in the near future) are part of his collection, that he wanted me to get, when his time was coming.
Tell me: have you ever heard Mario singing Wagner? (Walküre + Lohengrin on Vol.3)
Please, enjoy the world greatest opera singer ever!!!!!!!

HD-Vinyl 24/96 (Decca) Mario Del Monaco Sings Popular Songs (Mantovani and his Orchestra)

front-small-boxset
This very special record offers us the chance to sample the music of maestro Mantovani – the man who, let’s not forget, was selling records by the million long before the Beatles came on the scene. 1962’s “A Song for You” (English title of this album) is a somewhat unusual entry in Mantovani’s discography, being the only album he made that featured a vocalist throughout. The vocalist in this instance is someone very special, none other than legendary Italian operatic tenor Mario Del Monaco. The effect of Del Monaco’s voice set against Mantovani’s lush orchestral backgrounds is truly captivating, which produces exquisite versions of Love’s Last Word is Spoken (Parlami d’Amore Mariu), Be My Love, Ti Voglio Tanto Bene and Mantovani’s own Cara Mia, among others.

Rare HD-Vinyl 24/96 (Decca) Riccardo Zandonai – Three Scenes From Francesca Da Rimini (Olivero/Del Monaco)

front_small_boxset
Get this oustanding and ultra-rare recording, before the world goes down

Reup because of Magda’s death.
The Italian soprano Magda Olivero, one of the most prominent interpreters of the Italian verismo operatic tradition whose career spanned 50 years, has died at 104.
The news agency ANSA said Olivero died Monday, Sept. 8th 2014 in a Milan hospital, where she was admitted after a stroke last month.
The Milan opera house La Scala, where Olivero debuted in 1938, honored her memory with a moment of silence before a performance on Monday. La Scala described Olivero’s voice as charismatic, her acting as formidable and her intelligence as “ready and cutting until the end”.
Olivero took a break from performing after her 1941 marriage, returning to the stage in 1958 in the title role of Adriana Lecouvreur at the urging of the opera’s composer Francesco Cilea. It became one of her most memorable roles.
