HD-Vinyl 24/96 (DGG) LvB – Piano Concerto No.3 C-Minor / Rondo B-Flat-Major (Richter)

front-small-boxsetMany thanks to Jean-Luc for this precious gift
Nine years have elapsed since the death of this giant of the piano. Sviatoslav Richter left a wake so difficult to forget, because among other virtues, his powerful imagination allowed him to perform with absolute idiomatic lexicon, the most exigent scores. This album shows us Richter in one of his preferred works. The fabulous Beethoven Concerto No. 3 filled of reminiscences and mythic meaning.
One of his major artistic achievements along his successful career.

HD-Vinyl 24/192 (DGG) Sergeji Rachmaninov – Piano Concerto No. 2 (Richter)

Although the late Sviatoslav Richter spent his later years concentrating on Bach, Beethoven, and Haydn, he never completely abandoned the music of his native country. His reading of Rachmaninov’s most popular concerto, captured in fine late-’50s stereo, is one of the most glorious ever recorded. Richter’s amazing technique is completely up to the demands of Rachmaninov’s difficult writing, and he plays the heart-on-sleeve melodies with such refined intensity that they never sound sentimental. This performance is a truly amazing example of great pianism, very strongly supported by the fine orchestra and its little-known conductor.

HD-Vinyls 96/24 (DGG) Peter Tchaikowsky – Symphonic Works & Concertos on 7 LPs (Karajan)

front-small-boxset A wonderful box, original from 1968 in Mint condition, for 5 bucks from a flea market 😉 I myself have never been a huge fan of Karajan but these recordings of Tchaikovsky with the Berlin Philharmonic are breathtaking. Though there are tempo modifications made by Karajan to the score, they are certainly sensible make this performance all the more moving. Highly reccommended to Karajan and, particular, non-Karajan fans alike.
