Werner Haas was a German pianist especially known for his interpretations of French repertory, particularly the works of Debussy and Ravel. He was better known in Europe than in the Americas, where he never performed live. His many admirers assert that had his life not been tragically cut short, he would likely have achieved recognition as one of the finest pianists of his time.

  3. One of the best Debussy recordings ever made. Werner Haas was the last young german Pianist of world class till today. I own all his recordings on LP , broadcasts and private tapes .His car accident near Nancy was a tragedy. Thank you for posting this rarity. Trottar

I have been a big fan of these since I had the cheap American issue back in the sixties. I am not a real piano expert, but I do have Gieseking in several forms as well. Gieseking is also a pleasure, but this set in this quality is a treasure. The playing is incredible. Thank you so much.

  9. Many many many thanks!!
