    Reger’s solo suites and sonatas for violin, viola and cello are quite neglected by today’s bigger names, and old recordings not reissued as others. That being a great loss, looking on the bright side we find Hilger & al. standing free of the heavy shadows of the open terrain. Reger’s cello suites are his best, and did anyone ever come closer to the crowning qualities of Bach’s set? I think not, and thank you for every added performance.
