Well organized, splendid choices, great MP3

Most of the classical 99 or 100 collections are very random. Since this is from a ten composer box put out by Laserlight years ago it puts the focus on composers.
Wagner and Verdi, the two opera guys, are represented mostly by popular overtures and orchestral transitional pieces. The few chorus selections are big sound, mass groups which you may like even if you can’t stand arias.
BACH and VIVALDI are represented by many popular and familiar early pieces which belong in any greatest hits collection. BEETHOVEN, TCHAIKOVSKY, and MOZART are present with symphony movements, concerto movements and other familiar pieces.
J. STRAUSS, the waltz king, and SCHUBERT are well represented.
The CHOPIN section is the crown jewel of this collection for me. I owned this set many years ago and passed on all of the discs but the Chopin. I could not stand to give it up. Although not famous, these young (then) pianists took their Chopin seriously. I found several performances which made nice additions to my major pianist Chopin collections.
What is not to like? Listen by composer. Random play to mix it up. Find the symphonies or operas you need to seek out. This has background music. However, I suspect you will be trapped into listening with your full attention. Some of these selections and performances are that good.
I stopped counting my cd collection when it got to four digits and I am still tempted to download this, both for the excellence of the choices and the organization. The performances range from competent to inspired, a bonus. Enjoy.
