Twenty short pieces most of them 3 -4 minutes but one, some very amusing variations on a well known tune by Anthony Hopkins, runs to 14minutes. All have been used as piano encores and all are of the 20th century. Conservatives, don’t let this put you off for they are varied and enjoyable and tuneful. Some of the composers like Rachmaninov were born in the 19th century, others like Dudley Moore (1935 – 2002) are very contemporary. Bach is there ( Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring ) but in the setting by Dame Myra Hess. All are beautifully played with great verve. It’s 76 minutes of pure enjoyment. I hope he goes to town again.
